Goals of Football Pre-Season Training Camps

When it comes to getting a team ready for an upcoming season, nothing works as well as football pre-season training camps do! Unfortunately, most coaches, clubs and players are not certain about what the goals of pre season training for football players are. This can be detrimental to a player’s development. Pre-season training camps are a must to attend but why? Definitely, not just for the sake of it. Any training without proper objectives and goals will come to naught. So what are the goals of a good youth pre-season football training camp?

Team Building

The most obvious goal of any training camp for a football team is team building. For a playing group to work cohesively, the players need to train together and develop a strong internal bond with each other. This internal bond continues through the in-season period and the result is a team that works tirelessly toward one goal. Drills and pre season football training techniques need not only be football related. From outdoor laser skirmishes to high rise tower challenges, all drills can be used to foster better cohesive performance.

Developing a Player’s Mindset

A football game is often described as a battle. Like all battles, a game has to be won in the mind first. By training football players to achieve the right mindset before they step out into the playing field, football pre-season training camps enable them to step out on the field like winners.

Player Fitness

Fitness exercises and workouts like weight training for quarterbacks need to be incorporated into a pre-season training camp’s schedule. Drills that involve a strong component of physical fitness and competition help players to become physically resilient as they learn to perform as a team.

Instruction and Education

For any player to succeed on the gridiron, the basic fundamentals have to be ingrained in their brains and their muscle memory. This is where pre-season football training camps come in. A typical camp will include plenty of instruction and education so players understand the rules and the right ways to execute a play on the field.

In order for a football pre-season training camp to work its miracle, players and coaches need to approach it with the right mindset. Get your goals right, and work steadily to achieve them!
